Welcome to Business Black Belt!
My ongoing series on business development.

Each week I interview an angel or VC investor, an expert in business development or financing, or an entrepreneur who offers some keen insights into building your business as well as their own experience working with investors.

I’m talking with long-time product and intellectual property licensing expert Rand Brenner. Rand’s experience includes over 25 years in the development of licensing, marketing and revenue strategies for numerous entertainment and consumer brands.  He has lead various international licensing programs as both licensee and licensor, and through consulting projects focused on licensing strategy, brand development, sponsorship sales and property representation. Rand has developed licensing and promotional deals with Fortune 1000 companies including Coca Cola, Kellogg’s, Quaker Oats, Hasbro, Mattel, Random House, Harper Collins, Pillsbury, Topps, Sara Lee/Hanes and others.

Some ideas for our discussion:

    What licensing is
How to use licensing to build value
How to use licensing for financing
How do you calculate IP value?
How to identify your hidden IP assets
What are some of gotchas to watch out for
Tell me about using R&D tax credits!
